MISSION

Combined Federal Campaign of South Hampton Roads #0897 United Way of South Hampton Roads administers to Combined Federal Campaign for Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and eight counties in Northeast North Carolina serving as CFC for Albemarle Area United Way and Franklin Area United Way.

CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW

The Combined Federal Campaign is the only solicitation of federal employees at the job site as authorized by Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The CFC raises funds for non-profit Human Health and Welfare organizations both national, international and locally. OPM reviews all national and international applications. Local agencies are reviewed by the Local Federal Campaign Committee (LFCC). Agencies are notified by local advertisement that applications are available for eligibility in the CFC. After all applications are reviewed for administrative form, the LFCC determines each agencies eligibility based on OPM requirements. Ineligible agencies are notified in writing by certified mail that they may appeal the decision within a set period. Appeals are reviewed locally first and if denied may be appealed in writing to OPM within a set period of time. All approved agencies are included in the brochure in the local listing.

The CFC campaign is a six week campaign with the open months from 1 September to 15 December of each year or as decided by the LFCC during this time-frame. The overall campaign planning and follow-up are done during the rest of the year. All aspects of the campaign are governed by OPM; oversight is governed by the LFCC; in South Hampton Roads Commander, Navy Region, Mid-Atlantic serves as the standing Campaign Chair; and implementation is awarded to a Principal Combined Fund Organization.

There are 13 geographic areas under the LFCC which are represented by a military or civilian personnel for their commanders, commanding officers or agency heads as member of the LFCC. The LFCC meets during the campaign year to conduct the business of CFC and provide oversight of the PCFO. The PCFO is responsible for inventory, revision, and production of all campaign materials and the purchase of awards as necessary, training, website, and the CFC audit process.
